CT started production in 1987 as a breakaway organization from an earlier partnership that did not work. As a small pottery with a staff of eight (8) using abundant local clays, the pots sold very well and by 1990, it was employing 25 people. In 1993, CT got a chance order to export unglazed decorative pottery to Pier 1 Imports in the U.S. This was executed on time and there was a repeat order the following year and ever since CT has grown to become the largest single exporter of hand made decorative home and garden pottery to the U.S. and Europe.
